Motivational Mom of the Month - Tara Vik

NOVEMBER!? Where did you come from?? November is one of my favorite months because the focus is on family, friends, gratitude...and good food 😉

What are you thankful for? On the top of our list is always the moms who make up Our Village. The reason we do what we do. The community we have, the friends we've made and the love we share.

Each month we spotlight a mom who motivates up and who we are grateful for and this month is no different! Please join us in getting to know our November mom, Tara Vik!

How did you find FIT4MOM Richmond and how long have you been a part of our village?

Fit4Mom Richmond came to River Mill in March 2022 and I went to an introductory class with my younger son and was instantly hooked.

What do you love most about being part of this community?

I love the fact that we are all moms encouraging each other to get stronger both mentally and physically every day. Fit4Mom has given me the extra confidence I have needed to get back to my pre mom workout routine and body. I am thankful for this community and owe so much to the fabulous instructors and I am happy to say they have been apart of my 30lb weight loss journey since March 2022.

Who are you a mom to?

Calder Anders, he just turned 5 last week and yes I did cry a little. Jensen Rhys will be 2 in November.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

Being a mom has taught me so many things about myself, but most importantly I have learned how to love so deeply and it is amazing to see these tiny humans turn into amazing, smart boys.

What two items would you take with you if you were shipwrecked on a deserted island where all your food and water needs were taken care of?

Makeup and running shoes. Have to stay fit and look pretty, you never know when a pirate may come to sweep you off your feet.

If you had a time machine, would you travel to the future or back to the past?

Travel to the past, I do believe that our past has so much to do with who we are today, but I may have taken some different paths along the way if given the opportunity.

How do you practice self-care?

Working out is my outlet, stress reliever and personal therapist. I try to take time to workout at least 5-6 days a week even if it is just for 20 minutes so that I can reset and recharge.

Where did you grow up and how did you end up in Richmond?

I was born and raised in Richmond.

How did becoming a mother change you?

I have learned to become more patient, a better listener and love harder than I ever imagined.

What is the last great book or television series you've read/watched?

Schitt's Creek

How did you meet your partner?

We met at a mortgage company we were both working at and then went to the Band Perry concert with a group of coworkers and that was the beginning of this life we have built.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a teacher and a mother. I wound up in finance for a commercial real estate investment company, not as fun as a teacher, but I got the mother thing right.

If you could choose one song to play every time you walked into a room for the rest of your life, what song would you choose and why?

"Man, I Feel Like A Woman." I love how it makes me feel and embodies what I believe all women should feel about themselves. We are fierce, unstoppable and can do amazing things.

If your five-year-old self suddenly found themselves inhabiting your current body, what would they do first?

Go for a ride in my car. I have wanted to drive something more than a Barbie Jeep for as long as I can remember.

Oh my gosh Tara! The Barbie Jeep comment is giving me major flashbacks! I also instantly felt super fierce just reading "Man I Feel Like a Woman" because who doesn't get hype with some Shania in their life!?

We are so glad to have you in Our Village and be a small part of your healthy lifestyle journey. You're killing it, Mama!
