Motivational Mom of the Month - Sara Bernhardt

It feels like summer just started but here we are with "back to school" knocking on the door! This summer has been a blast here at Fit4Mom Richmond with fun themed classes like our favorite 4th of July family class, splash pad playdates, mom's night out and more!

All of the fun wouldn't be possible without our mamas so join us in getting to know our newest Motivational Mom of the Month, Sara!

How did you find FIT4MOM Richmond and how long have you been a part of our village?

I heard about Fit4mom through a friend and social media. Sophie and I attended our first stroller strides class in July 2022.

What do you love most about being part of this community?

The other mom’s I’ve gotten to know through stroller strides and the events that we’ve been able to attend. I’ve really enjoyed attending the Prenatal classes and the being around other expecting moms who are experiencing similar things at the same time.

Who are you a mom to?

Sophie Noelle who is 15 months old and expecting another baby girl in early August.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

Seeing Sophie’s eyes light up when she thinks something is funny or is excited about something.

What two items would you take with you if you were shipwrecked on a deserted island where all your food and water needs were taken care of?

I would take my family and a comfy couch.

If you had a time machine, would you travel to the future or back to the past?

I’d probably answer this in different ways during different seasons of life, with baby 2 coming any day, I think I’d choose the future. I could pop in on the future and see everything’s okay, then pop back and have less anxieties/worries.

How do you practice self-care?

I practice self-care by watching mindless reality television shows and drinking anything with crushed ice.

Where did you grow up and how did you end up in Richmond?

I grew up in Hampton, Virginia. I moved to Richmond in 2006 to attend the Masters of Social Work program at VCU.

How did becoming a mother change you?

I’m not sure! We struggled several years to start a family. I’m still amazed/shocked we have our sweet girl and another on the way.

What is the last great book or television series you've read/watched?

Black Mirror episodes always make me think and I can’t always see the twists coming! (Just skip the first episode!)

The last great book I read was The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

How did you meet your partner?

Gerard and I met on eharmony 10 years ago. This August we’ll be married 8 years.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I loved rocks and wanted to be a geologist, but my freshman geology class in college quickly showed me that wasn’t the right path for me.

If you could choose one song to play every time you walked into a room for the rest of your life, what song would you choose and why?

DJ Khaled- All I Do Is Win featuring T-Pain, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, & Rick Ross

If your five-year-old self suddenly found themselves inhabiting your current body, what would they do first?

Five year old me would cry because this baby in my belly is huge! Yesterday, a stranger looked at me and told me they weren’t sure how I was standing upright!

Sara, first and foremost I have to say how much I LOVE your halloween costume! It brings me great joy! I also love your walk-in song because there is nothing more hype than that song!

We're so glad you found Our Village last summer and we can't wait to continue alongside your journey in motherhood with your newest little babe on the way!
