Motivational Mom of the Month - Maggie Pascoe

🎶"It's gonna be...May!"🎶 says millennials everywhere and it's just so hard to believe! May is such a special time for FIT4MOM as we celebrate Month of Mama and shower all of our mamas with love! Our love is strong and our love is deep when it comes to the incredible women who make up Our Village and we are so thankful for each and every one of them (past and preset!)

This month we're showing a little extra love to Maggie, our May Motivational Mom of the Month. Read on to learn a little bit more about her!

How did you find FIT4MOM Richmond and how long have you been a part of our village?

I found FIT4MOM through the RVA Moms Facebook group a little over a year ago.

What do you love most about being part of this community?

Short answer: I love having a reason to get out of the house in the morning.

Long answer: I joined Fit4Mom looking for a practical way to bring exercise back into my life as a new Mom and early on I loved it for that. I loved being able to get my body moving again. But now I love it for so much more. It's not just physical fitness, but also the community. And it's also not just for me, a year in and I now have a toddle who's able to get just as much out of going to class (and the amazing playgroups!) as I do!

Who are you a mom to?

I am Mama to Hazel (age 16 months) and Crazy Chester the dog (age 2)

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

So far my favorite part is watching Hazel grow and develop. You can see changes almost daily these days and it just blows my mind. I love introducing her to new things and seeing her reactions. I love watching her mind work.

What two items would you take with you if you were shipwrecked on a deserted island where all your food and water needs were taken care of?

Some way to play music and a knitting project. Something to keep my mind calm and my hands busy.

If you had a time machine, would you travel to the future or back to the past?

To the past, the future sounds pretty scary these days, and I've always wished I had grown up during the 60s and 70s.

How do you practice self-care?

Spending time outside, exercising, doing something creative (knitting, sewing, etc.), and traveling always fills up my cup.

Where did you grow up and how did you end up in Richmond?

I grew up in Northern Virginia and lived in DC and NoVa post college. My husband and I decided we wanted to get out of the area during the pandemic and had spent a lot of time in Richmond over the years and really loved it. So in 2022 we sold our house and spent the summer traveling and house hunting. It took four months to find our house in Northside, but we couldn't be happier here!

How did becoming a mother change you?

My knee jerk reaction is to say that it hasn't, but of course that isn't true. My world now revolves around this tiny human. I eat, sleep, and breathe my new job as Mama and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Are you a stay at home mom or do you work outside of the home?

I am a full time Mama inside and outside of the home!

What is the last great book or television series you've read/watched?

I was not able to make the last Fit4Mom book club, but I did read Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow and really enjoyed it. I also just finished binging The Pitt and loved it! Though those medical shows take on a whole new level of heartbreak as a Mom.

How did you meet your partner?

We met at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in 2009. Music and Travel have been the cornerstones of our relationship ever since.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A children's book illustrator.

If you could choose one song to play every time you walked into a room for the rest of your life, what song would you choose and why?

Oh my gosh, this is impossible! I think I would have to say Sleep on the Floor by the Lumineers. It is just one of my all time favorite songs and I never get tired of listening to it.

If your five-year-old self suddenly found themselves inhabiting your current body, what would they do first?

Love on my dog, frolic around in the backyard, and eat a bunch of ice cream.....honestly, I haven't changed much.

If we wanted to say hi, which classes can we find you attending?

You can find me and Hazel at Stroller Bare and Strides pretty regularly. I've also really been enjoying Run Club and hope to make it to Boost and Ignite a little more regularly this summer.

Maggie, I love your answer of being a full time mama inside and outside of the house because isn't that the truth! I also love how you touched on how FIT4MOM started out as just a fitness class to you but has grown to so much more. We are so glad to have you and Hazel as a part of Our Village!
