Motivational Mom of the Month - Katie Entsuah

This warmer weather we've been having is definitely putting us in the mood for S P R I N G 🌷 and like always, we have so much to look forward too!

One of our favorite things about spring is how our mamas will stay after class longer, chatting, getting to know one another and forming friendships! And it's so easy to do when we have awesome mamas in Our Village like this month's Motivational Mom of the Month, Katie! Join us in getting to know a little bit more about her 🤗

How did you find FIT4MOM Richmond and how long have you been a part of our village?

Another mom suggested I try out Stroller Strides classes as a way to get out of the house and meet people when we first moved to the area. I took advantage of the Mother’s Day special last May and have been a part of the village ever since!

What do you love most about being part of this community?

I love getting to meet and spend time with women who are in the same stage of life and who can relate to all of the joys and struggles that come with motherhood. I have also loved seeing the precious friendships that the kids are able to make!

Who are you a mom to?

I am mom to Oliver who is 19 months old.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

My favorite thing about being a mom is being forced to slow down and also going on adventures with my mini bestie.

What two items would you take with you if you were shipwrecked on a deserted island where all your food and water needs were taken care of?

If you know me you won’t be surprised about this- my kindle, and sunscreen. Honestly sounds like a vacation…

If you had a time machine, would you travel to the future or back to the past?

I would travel to the future for sure!

How do you practice self-care?

Self care for me is an afternoon at the pool with a book and a beverage. Or in the winter when I can’t be at the pool, I enjoy a manicure and pedicure!

Where did you grow up and how did you end up in Richmond?

I grew up in Cincinnati, and then lived in Louisville and Raleigh before my husband got a promotion at work and we moved here!

How did becoming a mother change you?

Becoming a mother has forced me to let go of a lot of control and has really challenged a lot of my Type A tendencies. As a middle school teacher I was very used to schedule and routine and predictability in my day, and now that is all out the window!

What is the last great book or television series you've read/watched?

The best book series I’ve read is the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas. I read it a year ago and I still think about it all the time.

How did you meet your partner?

Jojo and I went to high school together but only knew each other as acquaintances. After we both graduated from undergrad and were back in town for the summer, we reconnected and went on a couple dates and never looked back!

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to be a teacher or a veterinarian.

If you could choose one song to play every time you walked into a room for the rest of your life, what song would you choose and why?

My husband and I have talked about this before, and the best one I have come up with is Lip gloss by Lil Mama! It’s a good hype song!

If your five-year-old self suddenly found themselves inhabiting your current body, what would they do first?

Five-year-old Katie would head straight for the creek at the back of the neighborhood and immediately start jumping from stone to stone, and looking under the big rocks for any kind of cool creature.

Katie, thanks for the book series recommendation! I love a good series! I also love that you said being trapped on an deserted island sounds like a vacation and I'm inclined to agree with you 😝

We are so glad your husband got a promotion (yay!) and it brought you to RVA and that you took the advice of another mom who encouraged you to come to class. We are so glad to have you as a part of Our Village!
