Motivational Mom of the Month - Becky Yount

February may get all the credit for being the month all about love but we like to celebrate love year round! We love our instructors, our classes, our mom's night out, our playgroups and most importantly...OUR MAMAS!

Join us in sharing the love and getting to know one of our newest instructors, Becky!

How did you find FIT4MOM Richmond and how long have you been a part of our village?

Through a friend that I met during a spring Montessori class for my daughter. She raved about how wonderful the outdoor classes were and how great the tribe was, so I had to check it out!

What do you love most about being part of this community?

We truly are a tribe. You show up however you can and feel so supported exactly where you are, on your personal motherhood and fitness journey. Such a blessing.

Who are you a mom to?

- Genevieve, who will be 2 1/2 next month and Juliette who just turned 5m

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

The constant change! Which used to be the hardest thing for me.. feeling like you’ve finally gotten the hang of one phase and BOOM the next one changes everything haha, but now I love it so much, it challenges me to come up with new strategies.

What two items would you take with you if you were shipwrecked on a deserted island where all your food and water needs were taken care of?

Music, for sure. Catch me dancing my way around that whole island! And to be a little practical, probably a way to make fire!

If you had a time machine, would you travel to the future or back to the past?

Past. Find a simpler time and way of living.

How do you practice self-care?

As a holistic health coach, nutrition and wellbeing are very important to me. I love unplugging and being out in nature.

Where did you grow up and how did you end up in Richmond?

I grew up right here in good ol’ RVA!

How did becoming a mother change you?

Becoming a mama has been a defining endeavor. Motherhood has emboldened every part of my being. It has altered my soul, my beliefs, my awareness, my courage, my heart and my Purpose. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to make this journey.

What is the last great book or television series you've read/watched?

Man’s Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl

How did you meet your partner?

At a Friendsgiving!

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A Veterinarian or traveling journalist

If you could choose one song to play every time you walked into a room for the rest of your life, what song would you choose and why?

Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding because it gives me all of the feels.

If your five-year-old self suddenly found themselves inhabiting your current body, what would they do first?

Reach the coffee, then the cookies, then the car keys (bye!)

Becky, I think you might be the first or one of the few who have answered the deserted island question with a practical answer - and I love it!

I also love your description of how motherhood has changed you.

We are so glad your friend convinced you to come try a class and we are thrilled to have you on the team!
