Can we all take a moment of silence for the relief we feel now that January is over?! The “Monday” of the year! With a new month brings us a new mom to love on and this month’s motivational mom is Hina!

How did you find FIT4MOM Richmond and how long have you been a part of our village?

I was googling gyms to join while being postpartum and then I found Fit4mom. Less than a year, can’t remember when I joined. But I wish I knew about Fit4baby when I was expecting!

What do you love most about being part of this community?

Being able to workout in a group that caters to the mom life is motivating. Being a first-time mom, it has been inspiring and helpful to listen and talk to other mom’s who maybe going through the same journey.

Who are you a mom to?

Hafeez who is 9 months!

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

The snuggles and Hafeez’s smile every time he sees me.

Would you rather fight one horse-sized duck or one hundred duck-sized horses?

One hundred duck-sized horses! Way more fun when they are mini!

How do you stay fit when you're not working out with FIT4MOM?

Running or doing a workout using a youtube video. Usually, it’s running.

How do you practice self-care?

Monthly mani/pedis! I have always done this one thing post-baby and decided to keep up with it.

Where did you grow up and how did you end up in Richmond?

I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and moved to Richmond in the summer of 2017. My husband got a job at Virginia Poverty Law Center and we made the move after we got married in 2017.

How did becoming a mother change you?

I am way more patient than I used to be. I am also more conscious about eating healthy and being more environmentally conscious as much as I can.

What is the last great book or television series you've read/watched?

Just finished watching Cable Girls on Netflix.

How did you meet your husband?

We have mutual friends in common that knew both of us and recommended that we connect. We talked for a few months and just knew it was meant to be!

What did you want to be when you grew up?

An elementary school teacher. Later I learned that I would much rather teach adults. I have enjoyed teaching undergrad sociology and may try teaching hs in the future.

If your five-year-old self suddenly found themselves inhabiting your current body, what would she do first?

Probably be excited to be the boss of someone and playing with various toys.

Hina, I love what you said about why you love our community. We hope to be that tribe for #allthemoms. And Hafeez does have the cutest little smile! Thank you for sharing more about yourself with us! Happy February everybody!
