Motivational Mom of the Month - Caroline Anderson

Happy November y'all! Another month means another Motivational Mom that we are T H A N K F U L for! Join me in getting to know Caroline!

How did you find FIT4MOM Richmond and how long have you been a part of our village?

I found Fit4Baby during my first pregnancy. We had recently moved to Richmond and I was interested in making friends with other soon-to-be moms in addition to getting into a workout routine that worked for my changing body. I had a lot of pelvic floor trouble after birth, and it’s been awesome to have a workout community that understands postpartum needs and gives me lots of ways to modify as I continue my recovery.

What do you love most about being part of this community?

It was awesome to see the same group every week as we all approached our due dates and went on to have our babies. Just before COVID started, we had a Fit4Baby reunion and it was so fun to see everyone again! Now that we are doing social distancing friendly workouts it’s still great to see the same faces every week!

Who are you a mom to?

Frankie is almost a year old, and we have another on the way!

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

Watching my little girl learn and grow - I’m so proud of her. Even her poop is cute to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Would you rather fight one horse-sized duck or one hundred duck-sized horses?

Definitely 100 duck sized horses. First of all, I’m big enough to overpower them. Second, they travel in herds, don’t they? If I can just distract one to run in the other direction, they’ll all follow.

How do you stay fit when you're not working out with FIT4MOM?

I don’t have time for anything else right now! I’m excited to start Fit4Baby again for November and add some prenatal yoga back into the mix,

How do you practice self-care?

Honestly it’s hard to find time for self care right now, between working full time, being a new mom (can I still say that after a year??), and basic human survival like feeding myself and showering... I’m trying to prioritize my mental health as 2020 has definitely been a challenge. I try my best to meditate for just 2-3 minutes at a time each day, and stay on top of relationships with friends who I can’t see in person right now

Where did you grow up and how did you end up in Richmond?

Minnesota. I moved to Richmond for my job about 18 months ago

How did becoming a mother change you?

In literally every possible way. I realize now I had no idea what to expect from having a child. It was a total identity shift. I am still learning how to be this new person. I don’t have it all figured out yet but I’m just happy to have every day filled with love from my little peanut!

What is the last great book or television series you've read/watched?

I finally read Wild, which I enjoyed more than I thought I would. And for TV, I will always love and recommend Great British Bake Off.

How did you meet your husband?

We worked together several jobs ago

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A doctor, a pilot, a model, a dancer... not surprisingly, I am none of those things today

If your five-year-old self suddenly found themselves inhabiting your current body, what would she do first?

Scream, probably.

Congratulations on your new little one on the way, Caroline! I must say, I've never thought about 100 duck sized horses traveling as a herd and thus, being easier to manage! 😝 And 2-3 minutes of meditation sounds so doable and something we could all benefit from!

We love that you found FIT4MOM in the short amount of time you have been in Richmond and we love that you are a part of Our Village. Thanks for sharing with us Caroline!
