Motivational Mom of the Month - Blair Lauver

Meet our December Motivational Mom of the Month, Blair Lauver!

Blair is one of our Body Back instructors and joined our team not that long ago. We're so happy she's a part of Our Village and we hope that if you haven't had the chance to meet her yet that you pop into a Body Back class sometime to say hello!

How did you find FIT4MOM Richmond and how long have you been a part of our village?

I have been a part of our village since the summer of this year. I have known Natalie for a few years from a local gym where we both taught classes. She needed a last minute sub for a Body Back class this past spring and I jumped in to help out. The ladies were lots of fun and put up with me, so here I am teaching some body back classes!

What do you love most about being part of this community?

All the mamas are SOOOO supportive of each other--I have seen this both online in the Our Village group as well as in class.

Who are you a (step) mom to?

Adam (32) and Todd (27)- They have been a part of my life since they were 9 and 4. They are both married and one is a dad and the other will be a dad come March. Also mom to my dog Bailey!

What is your favorite thing about being a (step) mom?

It has been AMAZING to watch them grow up into the young men, husbands, dad & dad to be that they are now. Watching the oldest with his new baby just melts my heart! When I think back to all their goofiness growing up, its amazing to see them today!

Would you rather fight one horse-sized duck or one hundred duck-sized horses?

Ducks are creepy, so I don't like either option!

How do you stay fit when you're not working out with FIT4MOM?

In addition to teaching group exercise classes, I love working in the yard and walking and hiking with my dog.

How do you practice self-care?

I am almost completely chemical free in my house (cleaning products, laundry, lotion, make-up, etc.) I have been working on it for about 18 months and it is not easy! I also love to cook and make sure I have the freezer stocked with easy healthy meals that I can thaw and use as needed for when times are crazy (soups, turkey burgers, black bean burgers, mini meat loaves, etc). I don't have picky eaters at my house to deal with, so this is pretty easy for me!

Where did you grow up and how did you end up in Richmond?

I grew up in Richmond and never left!

What is the last great book or television series you've read/watched?

While I love to read and am usually reading more than one book, I needed something fun to watch over the summer. Not sure I should admit this-but I polished off the entire Gilmore Girls series.....yikes!

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A nurse!

If your five-year-old self suddenly found themselves inhabiting your current body, what would she do first?

Go find a jungle gym to climb on! Loved my jungle gym in the back yard when I was that age.

What are you most looking forward to this holiday?

You probably don't want me to answer this one!! I am a Christmas grinch, so I am not looking forward to the holidays! I have told my family my goal is to not be a grinch this year, so we will see!

Blair, thank you so much for being a part of Our Village, for your kick butt workouts ;) , for your humor, and for being a Gilmore Girls fan (I love that show!) Best of luck getting into the holiday spirit this year and resisting those Grinch like tendencies! 'Tis the Season after all!
