Holiday prep is definitely in full swing! Personally, I'm unsure that everything on my to do list will get done in time. While you're planning and decorating and wrapping and cooking, don't forget to take a break to spend some quality time with your family. The Rink at West Broad Village-Prices are $10 for adults and $8 for children under 10, skate rentals are $5. You can skate throughout the winter. Check the website for more info on hours and special event days.

Holiday Movies at Movieland at Boulevard Square- It’s a Wonderful Life December 16th & 17th and A Christmas Story December 23rd & 24th Showtimes begin at 11 am, 1301 North Boulevard at West Leigh St., Richmond, VA 23230, Just off I-95, Exit 78, Tickets are $5.50.
Mary Poppins at the Virginia Rep. Theater- Performing at the November Theatre, 114 W Broad St, Richmond, VA 23220. Both evening and afternoon showtimes available, check website for times. Show run time: 2 hour and 40 minutes. Available tickets start at $36.

- 12/21-12/23- Cultural Arts Center of Virginia presented by the Central VA Dance Academy, 2880 Mountain Road, Glen Allen, VA. Performances are at 2 pm and 6 pm all three days. Tickets are $12.
Iluminate Light Show and Christmas Village- Dancing lights on winter nights will continue to fascinate this holiday season at The Meadow Event Park in Caroline County. Illuminate Light Show & Santa’s Village, Central Virginia’s largest drive-through light show, opened Nov. 17 and will run through December 31, 2017. The event is open nightly—including holidays—from 5:30 to 10 p.m. 13191 Dawn Blvd Doswell, VA 23047. Price is $25/car for up to 9 people. You can also receive $5 off when you donate 5 cans of food M-W until 12/20.
Lewis Ginter Garden Fest of Lights-Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, 1800 Lakeside Avenue, Henrico, VA 23228. Special events include Merry Mondays with Santa, Caroling Tuesdays, Crafty Wednesdays and Musical Thursdays, event runs now until 1/8 from 5-10 pm. Not open on 12/24 or 12/25. Tickets for non-members are $13/adult and $8/children 3 and up and for members $7/adult and $5/child. Check the website for more info on special events.
Richmond Tacky Lights Tour- Check out the website for more info and tour routes. Most houses turn on their lights by 6 pm.
Carriage Rides at Stony Point- 5:30-7:30 pm Enjoy complimentary horse-drawn carriage rides throughout the center this holiday season. Carriage rides begin at the Saks Fifth Avenue & Brooks Brothers entrance. Horse-Drawn Carriage rides take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays from November 25-December 23 and Sunday December 24, 5:30-7:30 pm.
Busch Gardens Christmas Town- Christmas shines brightest at Busch Gardens ® Christmas Town ™ in Williamsburg, Virginia. The world’s most beautiful theme park is aglow with over 8 million Christmas lights, making it the largest Christmas light display in North America. Festive food and drink, holiday shopping and heart-warming shows make the spirit of Christmas come alive. Runs from now until 1/1, 2 pm-10 pm. Tickets start at $25 for adults and children 3 and up or you can purchase a pass for the season for $49.
Santa's Wonderland at Bass Pro Shop- now through 12/24 Mon-Sat. 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Free. See details below or visit the website.

12/27-1/1- 4th Annual RVA Winter Puppetfest. Ty-Rone & Friends by Ty-Rone Travis (10:30am and 1pm) AND Tales of Beatrix Potter – a Pajama Party Show! by Applause Unlimited (7pm). Performances are held at Richmond Triangle Players, 1300 Altamont Avenue (just a few blocks from the Science Museum). All tickets are just $10 each with no extra ticketing fees

12/15 Science After Dark-Holiday theme- 5-8 pm, Admission to Science After Dark is $10, which includes Museum exhibits and one Dome Feature (either a Cosmic Expedition or “A Christmas Story”). Additional Dome features are $5. Museum members enjoy free exhibit admission and a free Cosmic Expedition. Members can add the feature film to their visit for $5 or can use a Dome pass. Tickets must be purchased at the door.
12/16- Little Red and the Gingerbread Man. 10:30-11:15am. Midlothian Library. Join Little Red as she pursues a mischievous Gingerbread cookie through the woods of Grandma’s house in this fairy tale puppet show. For ages 2-8. Free.
12/16- River Rose and the Magical Christmas Storytime at all local Barnes and Noble locations at 11:00 am. It's Christmas Eve and River Rose wants to stay up all night to hand-deliver a note to Santa, but she and her dog fall asleep only to find they've been swept off on another magical adventure. 12/16- Autism Society Central VA at The Byrd Theatre presents a sensory-friendly screening of the wonderful holiday movie, POLAR EXPRESS. The lights will be up and the sound will be turned down. 12/16- Gingerbread Decorating Event at Stony Point- Create holiday memories by decorating a gingerbread house or doghouse from 11:00 am -1:00 pm in Santa's Bake Shop located near Dillard's. 12/21-12/23- Miracle of Christmas Live at the Metro Richmond Zoo- You are invited to the 15th anniversary of Miracle of Christmas, a live nativity pageant at the Metro Richmond Zoo. Join us as we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, through a live re-enactment of the Christmas story featuring animals from the zoo. The twenty-minute pageant will be presented 3 times each evening. Live musical performances before and after each pageant will be provided by local churches and performing arts groups.There are three shows each evening at 7:00, 7:45, and 8:30. 12/23- Santa's Magic Key Storytime at all local Barnes and Noble locations 11:00 am. In this unforgettable holiday story, a boy realizes on Christmas Eve that his new house does not have a chimney. With the post office closed and Santa coming by the end of the night, he has no way of telling Santa. But when the boy finds a mysterious key, he'll soon discover just how this key will solve his problem. Activities to follow. Free.
12/24- Christmas Eve in Richmond at Hill City Church. They’ll have 3 services on Sunday December 24th at 9:30AM, 11:00AM, and 7:00PM. 12/31- Noon Year’s Eve. 10am-1pm. Science Museum of Virginia. Count down to noon to see a dramatic and quirky version of the traditional ball drop! Watch 2,018 bouncy balls, paper streamers and confetti bring our Rotunda to life for a special ball drop and apple juice toast to celebrate the New Year. Note: the Museum will open at 9:30 am for this exciting event! Noon Year’s Eve is included with Museum admission.
