Motivational Mom of the Month: Christa Jeffs

Good Morning Ladies,

If you've been to Stroller Strides in the past year, chances are you've seen Christa's beautiful, smiling face. I first met Christa at a TRX class that Natalie had organized at Victory Lady Fitness. That class completely kicked my butt. However, Christa stayed positive throughout, and barely broke a sweat! Read on to learn more about this inspiring lady!

How did you find FIT4MOM Richmond and how long have you been a part of our village?

I have been a part of the FIT4MOM village for just over a year. I attended the free week of stroller strides for Valentines day in 2017 and have been hooked ever since!

What do you love most about FIT4MOM?

What I love is the sense of community. If you are having a bad morning, or even a bad week, you know that when you show up to stroller strides you have a whole class full of moms there for you. I love the friendships my daughter and I have made through FIT4MOM. The workouts are awesome too!

Who are you a mom to?

I am mom to Zoey who is one and a half. She had a bit of a rough entrance into this world but has blossomed into a beautiful and smart toddler (who is slightly wild at times)!

What were you like in high school?

I was horse OBSESSED in high school (and still am). Instead of spending my weekends at school dances and parties, I spent my weekends traveling to compete in horse shows.

Would you rather fight one horse-sized duck or one hundred duck-sized horses?

One horse-sized duck!!!!!

What gets you out of bed every day?

What gets me out of bed every morning is Zoey saying mama up or yelling MAMA BREAKFAST from her room. She does not like having to wait for meals!

How do you stay fit when you're not working out with FIT4MOM?

When not working out with FIT4MOM I go to the gym, take my dog for a walk, or go horseback riding (not nearly as often as I would like!).

How do you practice self-care?

I love doing face masks at home and doing my nails. Every night, after my husband is home from work and I’ve put Zoey to bed, I take my dog for a walk around the neighborhood. I get to spend some time by myself and some days it is the only exercise my dog gets!

Where did you grow up and how did you end up in Richmond?

I grew up in Richmond!

What is something you've done that you're really proud of?

The accomplishment I am most proud of is that, after multiple surgeries, weeks of radiation treatments, and 2 years of chemotherapy, I am in remission from follicular lymphoma.

What is the last great book or television series you've read/watched?

I just finished watching Grey’s Anatomy on Netflix!

How did you meet your husband? Tell me about your first date.

I met my husband Evan at the bar Sine downtown. We were both out with our friends. He wouldn’t come talk to me because I was drinking water, so he went and talked to one of my friends about me. We exchanged numbers and a few days later he asked me out to dinner and I agreed. The day our date was scheduled for comes and I end up having to leave work early because I am that sick. I cancel our date due to being sick. He assumed I was blowing him off and he would never see or hear from me again. A week later we rescheduled our date and went to dinner at Stella’s and then went for drink at the rooftop bar at Postbellum.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a veterinarian.

If your five-year-old self suddenly found themselves inhabiting your current body, what would she do first?

She would eat her body weight and then some in candy and ice cream.

Christa, you are such an inspiring person! Thanks for sharing more about yourself with all of us! If anyone needs more information on Richmond horseback riding, you now know who to ask!
